Slide 7: Our deployment (not just a pilot) “Unsupported” setup, 1 virtual machine, 5Gb ram, 30Gb disk Linux - SLES 10 SP1 DB2 9.1, memory manager tuned to use a limited amount of memory WAS 6.1.0.13, one profile, 6 app servers (one per feature) LTPA everywhere (Portal / Web environment) LDAP is Tivoli Directory Server (on another box) TDI is “importing” a subset of it (only internal Avnet team) Front-end “EDGE” using Websphere Edge Components Caching Proxy

Slide 8: Dirty Techie bit (Lessons learned) Use Linux/AIX (much better Websphere / filesystem performance) Use a reverse caching and compression proxy or your network will complain (great performance booster) Go beyond documentation: discover bookmark-let urls, community cards (like person cards) and more Overuse it, integrate people-cards and bookmark-lets in existing application. Wherever it makes sense
