    Dear Doina!

I say thank you for Vermer biographical supplement very nicely. He is the single and lonelily phenomenon of the Dutch painting. Did not exhibit his pictures because of an art-dealer's shop inherited from his father possibly or taking care of his 11 children, did not sign his big part and supplied only two with a date.

Van Gogh was enthusiastic about him whatever, several French authors analysed his works. Marcel Proust Vermeer shape into literary work weaved.

Johannes Vermeer or Jan Vermeer died at the age of 43, was a Dutch Baroque painter who specialized in domestic interior scenes of ordinary life. His entire life was spent in the town of Delft, Holland (15 km from Den Haag where I am living). Vermeer was a moderately successful provincial painter in his lifetime. Virtually forgotten for nearly one hundred years, Vermeer was rediscovered in 1866 when the art critic Thore Burger published an essay attributing 66 pictures to him (only 35 paintings are firmly attributed to him today). He is now acknowledged as one of the greatest painters of the Dutch Golden Age.

    Good work!
