Slide 1:Mascots in the Olympics
Slide 2:Since the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, France the Olympic Games have had a mascot, usually an animal native to the area or occasionally human figures representing the cultural heritage.
Slide 3:Schuss, a little man on skis, is the very first unofficial Olympic mascot. Schuss appeared at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble. He was featured on a pin and on small toys but not as a plush mascot.
Slide 4:Waldi was the first official mascot to appear for the 1972 Munich Games, she was a Dachshund. Her head and tail are light blue, and her body has vertical stripes with at least three of the five Olympic colors.
Slide 5:Amik the beaver was chosen as the official mascot for the Summer Olympic Games of Montreal, 1976. Amik in Indian language means beaver. The beaver has always been associated with hard work.
